Janet Ables

Engaging, transparent, and practical . . .

are three words often used to describe the teaching and speaking style of Janet Ables. Her in-depth knowledge of Scripture combined with her engaging story telling style keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. Her messages inspire women to grasp the truth that puts them on the path to true spiritual growth. No matter where a woman in is her journey toward the heart of God, Janet helps them take the next step.

Janet's ability to weave together Scripture, personal stories, and spiritual insights makes her a popular retreat speaker. Throughout these weekends she touches the hearts of women of all ages with her transparency, warmth, and humor. Her passion is to teach women to know God more intimately and to follow Him more fully.

In addition to her teaching and speaking, Janet enjoys what she considers to be her most important ministry her family. Her husband, Jay, is the Family Ministry Pastor at Atascadero Bible Church and their three children, Ashley (16), Austin (14), and Addison (11) make for a full family life.  Janet's passion for strong families begins with her commitment to her own. She and her family enjoy coastal living at their home in Atascadero, California.

Trust and Obey

It is amazing how our perspective can change when viewing the world from thirty feet in the air. God often teaches spiritual truths by paralleling physical realities. Jesus’ parables are an example of how He used the physical world to teach spiritual truth. By applying spiritual principles to the very physical high ropes course we call “The Comfort Zone” we will gain a better understanding of trust and obedience and their application to our lives. Come share in the experience of this modern day parable.

Patsy Daniels is a wife, mother of three, and recently accepted the challenge of coordinating Pine Valley’s Outdoor Education Program. Her husband, Norm, and she have been serving on staff here for the last five years and served at Hume Lake Christian Camps for sixteen years before that. While at Hume Patsy was a High Adventure Guide at their ropes course for twelve years. “Through my experiences on the ropes course I am constantly reminded of the Lord’s principles of trust, obedience and the importance of focusing on truth rather than my feelings as I face challenges in my life.” Patsy loves sharing what she’s learned thirty feet above the ground in the midst of the physical and mental challenges of the Comfort Zone.

The Indescribable Goodness of God and His Grace

We have all heard that God is good – yet do you sometimes wonder just how good God is?  Have you ever found yourself asking these questions: does God really know what is happening in the world today; does He know about the pain in my life; does God really hear my prayers?  And if He does hear my prayers and nothing seems to get better, have you wondered: could God be punishing me for how I screwed up my life?  These questions, though often unspoken, are at the heart of our true relationship with God.  Diane will draw richly from scripture and her own life experiences to give fresh insight to just how very personal and indescribably good our God is, even when beliefs about God seem to collide with life’s realities.  Come join us, and get to know a God who is worthy of your deepest trust.
