Session 1: May 6-June 23
Session 2: June 17-August 18
Pine Valley Bible Conference Center is looking for mature Christian college age students who are motivated and humble servants who can have a positive influence on others this summer through personal interactions, leadership, and service. Summer staff positions include team members for our recreation department, program department, and service department. These departments can include such elements as guest services, leading group initiatives through Outback Youth Camp and Outdoor Education, serving with youth, life guarding, outdoor recreation, serving children as counselors/mentors, serving as group liaisons, providing moral and spiritual leadership to other summer staff and campers, and serving on the kitchen and facilities teams.
Summer staff team members will receive lodging, meals, and weekly pay and will engage in a variety of spiritual growth experiences. Summer staff will be expected to be leaders and role models to the campers and staff who visit our grounds.
If you are interested in serving on our summer staff team this summer, please read through the guidelines and positions below.
This is not an all-inclusive list. All summer staff will be cross-trained and will be expected to serve where needed.
Before applying for a position on our summer staff team, please examine your heart and seek God’s direction. If the prospect of serving Christ wholeheartedly excites you, and you have a passion for service ministry, then the sacrifices expected of you this summer will seem insignificant.
All summer staff team members will be expected to lead and set an example for high school Ascent Campers who will be serving with the summer staff on occasion. Because of this, college-aged applicants will be considered first in the hiring process. However, the most important qualities will be spiritual maturity and willingness to serve. Other important qualifications are emotional maturity, work experience, and timeliness of returned application.
The following are key Biblical principles that each team member will be expected to own and keep in mind for the duration of the summer at PVBCC.
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. (1 Corinthians 8:9)
For this reason, we require that clothing for all staff be very conservative. We represent Christ to a wide spectrum of perceived appropriateness. We will ask you not to bring clothes that expose undergarments, such as sleeveless shirts for girls and pants that sag below the waist. Suggestive clothing, tight clothing, and clothing with questionable slogans will not be permitted. Two-piece swimsuits and speedos will not be allowed.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…. (Colossians 3:23)
To ensure that you get essential rest and are able to continue to work with all your heart and not become weary, a curfew will be in place for all summer staff. Exclusive relationships with team members of the opposite sex are prohibited during the summer to prevent team members from becoming distracted from their given work for the Lord.
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ. (Philippians 3:7, 8)
In applying for a summer staff team position, you will be expected to give up some of the freedom you may now experience. However, we believe that the joy found in serving God with all your heart outweighs the sacrifice.
